New course. From semi-abstraction to abstraction, your personal journey
New monthly all day Sundays, second Sunday of the month, at Lydiate parish hall L31 4EQ
next class April 13th 2025, a monthly class, second Sunday of the month.
This course offers you the opportunity to take your own personal journey towards semi-abstraction and abstraction. Intended to show members how they can take this journey on a well structured course, yet flexible enough to allow for individual choices.
Remember, working this way gives you complete freedom as an artist. No restrictions as there's no right or wrong way of doing it. It's simply down to your own creativity, but often this needs to nurtured.
Course will be ongoing through the year and will develop in an organic way. Though structured to teach from the very basics, how to create and develop an idea into a finished piece of art, or series, the course will be flexible to enable the participants to have an input so that everyone gets the maximum outcome. You will be encouraged to work on your own initiative away from class. This could be exploring ideas, researching like-minded artists to further your own knowledge. More on this in class.
It's intended to run a taster session at Lydiate parish hall on Sunday December 15th. 10am to 3pm. Will focus on the first criteria, how to come up with an idea, then developing that idea in drawing & sketching.

Life drawing classes
The life drawing classes are the best way to learn how to draw accurately, as working directly from the model forces you to engage in observational drawing. You can learn the measuring system in a couple of hours, then it's practice!
Opportunities to exhibit your work!
We have at least two exhibitions a year. Members look forward to the opportunity to show their work. Most of those who exhibit have sold paintings. Also great opportunity to see how the public react to your work!

Latest news
As a member of the Sefton Art Group, you will have the opportunity to visit local exhibitions, especially to the Tate and the Walker. One of our last visits prior to Covid was to the Keith Haring summer exhibition at the Tate. We also had the benefit of a lecture, which acquainted us with the background of the artist which meant we had a greater understanding of his art. This often sows the seed to members and triggers ideas of their own.
We plan on visits to major local exhibitions at Tate Liverpool and the Walker art galleries in 2023
You are always welcome to any class, meet current members and find out more before joining. When new people join, you will be encouraged to take part in our exhibitions.
